چکیده

The present study compares the voice quality of female and male speech in two languages: Czech, a Slavic language, Danish, Germanic language. For both languages, results based on total 120 vocally healthy speakers are line with claim that females universally breathier than males. This was supported by Cepstral Peak Prominence (CPP) H1*-H2* measures, which generally known as most robust correlates breathiness, also H1*-A3* measure. However, sex distinction unsupported or even contradictory when using some other measures suggested to reflect provides an incentive insist employing number acoustic future research. perceptual component nevertheless suggests these findings due differences perceived roughness rather CPP do breathiness differences, particular. We therefore conclude it is indeed case speakers. Finally, terms (CPP H1*-H2*), no language-specific magnitude effect were found. current focuses phonatory setting population normophonic As sociophoneticians have pointed out, understanding characteristics important for pathologists baseline what should be considered medically normal opposed abnormal patterns (1Foulkes P Scobbie J Watt D Sociophonetics.in: Hardcastle J.
